Active Trigger-Point Option · Ashburn, VA

Active trigger-point care starts with an evaluation.

Start with a 40-minute Trigger Point Dry Needling Initial Evaluation. A qualified provider reviews pain, muscle tension, trigger points, and movement restrictions before deciding whether controlled needle movement (pistoning/manipulation) is appropriate. If recommended, continuing clients can then book 30-minute follow-ups.

Which needling option fits your plan?

Start with the Trigger Point initial evaluation if you are considering the active technique. Dry Needling is a separate retained-needle option for established clients when recommended. Your qualified provider determines which approach fits your needs; neither is inherently better for everyone.

Trigger Point Dry Needling

First, a provider evaluates muscle tension, pain, trigger points, and movement restrictions. If indicated, they use controlled needle movement (pistoning). The continuing visit is available only after that initial evaluation.

Dry Needling

Thin needles are placed in selected areas and retained for part of the visit. Electrical stimulation (e-stim) may be added when clinically appropriate; it is not automatic.

New injury or post-surgery concern? Review the broader Rehab Evaluation or contact Elite before booking a technique. Never select the Trigger Point follow-up without its initial evaluation.

A clear service. A purposeful place in your plan.

The first visit is a 40-minute evaluation of areas of muscle tension, trigger points, pain, and movement restriction. When indicated, the provider inserts a thin, sterile needle in the selected muscle and moves it manually using controlled pistoning to stimulate the trigger point; a particular muscle twitch or result cannot be promised.

The 30-minute follow-up is reserved for clients who have completed the initial needling evaluation and whose provider recommends continued trigger-point care. The active technique may be used within a broader plan for localized muscle tightness, overuse-related discomfort, or musculoskeletal pain or movement restrictions. For a more passive option, standard 20-minute Dry Needling places and retains needles, with e-stim only when appropriate. Contact Elite if a new injury or post-surgical concern may need a broader Rehab Evaluation first.

Choose this service when…

01

You are booking an initial assessment for localized muscle tightness or movement limitations, rather than selecting a follow-up yourself.

02

Your provider recommended continued active trigger-point care after your initial needling evaluation.

03

You want to understand how this technique differs from the retained-needle option.

Specific enough to compare. Flexible enough to individualize.

Every service has a distinct purpose. The exact session still responds to your assessment, goals, history, and current capacity.

40-Minute Initial Evaluation

Your provider reviews muscle tension, trigger points, pain, movement, suitability, and consent before choosing an approach.

Trigger-Point Selection

The provider identifies a relevant muscular area for the session.

Controlled Needle Movement

The provider manually moves the needle using an active in-and-out technique; a twitch is not required.

Provider-Directed Follow-Up

If appropriate, continue with separately booked 30-minute sessions after the initial evaluation.

Clarity before intensity.

Do I book the initial evaluation or a follow-up?

New trigger-point needling clients start with the 40-minute Initial Evaluation ($125), which may include treatment when appropriate. The 30-minute Follow-Up ($85) is only for clients who completed that initial evaluation and are continuing this technique as part of a provider-recommended plan.

How is Trigger Point Dry Needling different from Dry Needling at Elite?

Trigger Point Dry Needling uses active, controlled needle movement (pistoning) at selected trigger points. Standard Dry Needling is a 20-minute, $65 placement-and-retention option, with e-stim only if appropriate. The trigger-point approach begins with a 40-minute initial evaluation before 30-minute follow-ups.

Will the needle be moved during the session?

When your provider finds this approach appropriate, a thin, sterile needle is moved using a controlled pistoning technique at a selected trigger point. A muscle twitch or specific result is not guaranteed.

What if I have a new injury or am post-surgery?

Contact Elite to determine whether a broader Rehab Evaluation is the appropriate first visit. Do not self-select a 30-minute trigger-point follow-up for a new injury or post-surgical concern.

Is this the same as an injection?

No medication is injected. The session uses thin, sterile, solid needles; it is not a trigger-point injection.

Choose the right next step—without guessing.

Open seven days a week by appointment. New clients can start with the recommended evaluation; returning clients can use the established-service action.
